Happy Sunday Funday everyone!
I apologize for my delinquency in posting - the past few days have been pretty busy. But I am back now and very excited to announce Joie's first ever Blog Challenge!
I doubt many of you spend as much time in the "beauty blogosphere" as I do, but if you do you may have seen that lately a lot of fashion and beauty bloggers have been writing "what's in my bag" posts. The general idea is that hypothetically, what's in your bag says a lot about you. Which I suppose could be true on a certain level - it may reveal which brand of lip balm you prefer, what sunglasses you own, your favorite flavor of gum. But none of that really tells me anything about you. So I started thinking, and came up with an idea that I think will be much more telling about who we are than what's in our bags (though if you are curious about what's in mine, I can always write a post on that later). Introducing (drumroll please)...What's in My Google History?!
At first you may not think that what you Google is worthy of interest to anyone except yourself, and maybe the person you're arguing with over whether or not the cute guy in Blue Crush is also Elle's ex-boyfriend in Legally Blonde (answer: it is). But take a second scan through the endless musings you type into your favorite search engine over the course of the day, and you'd be surprised at just how much it can say about you. So without further ado, I give you my most recent Google History:
- Beyonce's baby Blue Ivy Carter
- Pan Mass Challenge
- St. Tropez Tanning Lotion
- Spice Girls
- AA Mobile Boarding Pass
Okay class, what have we learned? For starters, I'm into pop culture - 'nuff said. Beyonce was recently featured on the cover of People magazine looking every bit the glowing mother, while also managing too pull off the elusive "I'm wearing hardly any makeup and Jay-Z still thinks I'm the hottest chick in the game" look. After reading that article, it was only natural that I try to get a sneak peek at what their mixed tape looks like.
Pan Mass Challenge - this could tell you that I am fairly athletic and that I like to ride my bike. Except that's a little bit of a reach, seeing as I don't have a bike. But yes, I am planning to ride the PMC this August with my Dad, and had to prove to my boyfriend's parents that I really am capable of biking 85 miles in one day (they didn't believe it was that long a ride - and that's only one way).
St. Tropez Tanning Lotion - my roommate recently invested in the stuff and I gotta say the glow she has going on is definitely beach-worthy. But before investing in the product myself, I had to do a bit of recon. Lesson learned? I aspire to be tan.
Spice Girls - the always classic "Spice World" was recently on TV, and I wanted to know how old Victoria Beckham was when she insisted on wearing "the little Gucci dress" on every occasion. She was 21. Another interesting fact? The Spice Girls were formed to compete with other boy bands at the time, and the 5 flavors of Spice all met at auditions (except Geri Halliwell, who was too busy skiing in Spain to be bothered trying out).
AA Mobile Boarding Pass - this one's easy: I am an efficient traveler. With a smartphone.
Don't you feel like you already know me a little bit better? Plus, reviewing one's Google History can also be very entertaining - when sharing this idea with a friend we decided to go through hers and the first thing that popped up was "so f&*%ing bored." Which leads me to the blog challenge - now that we've shared what's in my Google History, it's time to play....What's in YOUR Google History?!"
Come on, it will be fun!! The game is easy, and there are only two rules: (1) Reply in the comments section of this blog post with your top 5 Google History musings, and explain what each says about you (and don't worry if they are embarrassing - make yourself anonymous with an abstract username and no one will ever know). (2) Pay it forward - pass this blog post along to a few friends to share in the fun!
The challenge will be open until the end of the week - or Friday, May 11th. After that Joie will review the responses and choose one that is most revealing / entertaining, and the author of that response will win a FREE swag-bag filled with my must-have beauty supplies for summer. So here's to you and what's in your Google History - May the odds be ever in your favor!
It has come to my attention that some wishful participants do not know how to look up their Google History. It's quite easy, but depends on which browser you use. Click here
for instructions if you use Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Safari. If you use Chrome, just click on the tool icon in the upper right corner, and then select History from the drop-down. Easy!
