Boston dodged a very serious bullet earlier this week when superstorm Hurricane Sandy ravaged the Eastern Corridor, killing more than 50 people across 11 states and 67 in the Caribbean. I feel very lucky to have escaped the brunt of the storm but am still clearly affected by the devastation in surrounding states as many of my close friends and family live in other areas of the East Coast that suffered far worse damage. For the first time in my lifetime New York City has come to a complete standstill - most of the subway system is still underwater and millions are without power, not to mention those who have lost their homes to the fire and flooding brought on by Sandy's unmatched weather conditions.
As we look to rebuild our cities, communities, and transportation systems in the coming months, undoubtedly many of you will want to help. That is why I am writing this post - to give you the opportunity to support those in need. Tomorrow Copley Cares is putting on a fashion show and shopping event benefiting The American Red Cross, the number one philanthropy responding to those affected by Sandy. Copley Cares will be hosted by WCVB's award-winning anchor and news reporter Bianca de la Garza, as retailers located within the Copley Square Mall showcase their latest collections. In addition many shops are holding in-store events and donating a percentage of all sales to The Red Cross. Details about the event are below:
6:00 PM - Copley Cares Kick-Off
In-store shopping events and fashion shows throughout Copley
7:30 PM - Copley Cares After Party
Continue to celebrate fashion for a cause while sipping themed cocktails and mingling with Boston's best dressed philanthropists! All after-party attendees will also receive a complimentary gift bag with products and offers from Copley retailers.
