Chanel: Karl and That Giant Hula Hoop Bag

I am sure by now you have all seen the most-talked about accessory at Paris Fashion Week:  Chanel's dramatically over-sized hula hoop bag.  While the entire collection emphasizes the relationship between volume and density (with Karl's main point being that your clothes need not be heavy and overbearing in order to be 3-dimensional), this bag takes the concept to a whole new level.

I don't know about you but the first thing I thought when I saw this was "If I can climb through the handles of my purse, it's too big."  But upon hearing Karl's explanation for the drastic proportions of the brand's hallmark lambskin-quilted handbag, I began to see sense.  His design may be a hyperbolic example of the typical beach tote, but there is no denying the functional benefits of having a place to hang your towel.
